Two Models of the Cathedral of San Martiño de Mondoñedo

The Cathedral of San Martiño de Mondoñedo is located in the municipality of Foz, in the province of Lugo It is considered the oldest cathedral in Spain, from the ninth century. It was the headquarters of the Bishoprics of the Kingdom of Galicia. The current building is in Romanesque style at the end of 11th century, and the buttresses are work of the 18th century. Next to the basilica is the source of A Zapata, which according to a legend, its water has miraculous properties. Its sculptural decoration is interesting, because of its style and its iconography, since both They reflect an art of the Camino de Santiago.

Two models of the Cathedral have been made, both at a scale of 1: 100. One of them representing the entire building, with the removable buttresses, to show the public how the building looks now and how it was originally; and another cut in section longitudinal, showing the interior. It is made of MDF, wood and PVC. They are painted in uniform, unrealistic tones. The two models are exhibited in the Parish Museum of the Cathedral Basilica of Mondoñedo.
